Internet! YAY! Internet! YAY! Google! YAY! Email! YAY! Hyperbole and a half! YAY!!
It's been a while since I've been able to update! I recently moved to a new apartment which does not have internet included in the rent and frankly I am too cheap (actually just too damn poor) to pay for my own personal internet line so this has kind of been on my back burner - boo! But I'm on a mini-vaca visiting some friends and I'm soaking up their internet mwahaha!! I've been brainstorming some ideas to create more projects and activities for you guys. School and work seem to be soaking up so much time and I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I'd like to this, but I promise I will do better! I would like to start incorporating more Self love bible activities and start reaching out to more people - so everyone share my link with your friends! There are exciting things on the horizon friends,

My life as I know it is very ..crowded. Crowded with events, ideas, and items. I feel slightly smothered by the number of things in my life right now so I've decided that I would like to try a pseudo-minimalism style of living. I'm going to go through my entire wealth of things I've accumulated and mark the date - in a few months, if the date is not updated.... I'm going to ruthlessly cut it out. In a few months I'm going to hold a liquidation yard sale and there will be TONS of stuff for sale. I believe that not only will this be a way to maybe bring in some cash, but it will feel so good to get rid of as much stuff as possible, how much lighter will life be?
If you're feeling a little cramped, maybe give this a thought.... I'll let you know how mine turns out. We're always told that we need to be honest. We aren't just told that to combat the fact that telling a lie is considered 'bad' - we're also told that for our own good. Being honest is really always the best policy.
There is a scene in Star Trek the Next Generation, where Dr. Crusher and Captain Picard are having breakfast together - this is a very long running custom for them as friends. Dr. Crusher has an excellent meal planned for the next breakfast - a Romulan dish! Crusher and Picard get captured while they're on an away mission and they have implants put in that make them feel each others thoughts. Eventually it comes out that Picard hates that Crusher makes all these fancy dishes for breakfast, but she thought he would want something fancy, and he thought she liked fancy things. Turns out - all either of them wanted was coffee and croissant. Be open :) Make sure to read or listen to the lyrics, and keep them close at heart!
I love walking - it's such good exercise, and a little rain never hurt anybody
Make sure to slosh in all the puddles :) I tried acorn squash tonight - thank you Chelsea! - and it was something completely different! It was similar in texture to a sweet potato. I added butter, and the scoring let it soak in....mmm it was tasty. I could only eat half, it fills you up!
Try an acorn squash, it's worth it. Easy way to get veggie servings and a medium squash only has 172 calories! O.O Acorn Squash: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut the squash head to bottom, when you get it, the inside will look like a pumpkin. Using a spoon, make sure to scoop out all the seeds and strings. Take a knife and score the squash, making cuts vertical and horizontal. Place squash in a pan, and add about 1/4 inch of water to prevent the squash's skin from burning and drying out. Here is where you can get creative - try adding butter, cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, whatever you like. Place in the over for about an hour to hour and 15 minutes. Better to over cook than undercook. Remove and allow to cool (these babies get HOT!)....enjoy with a big glass of milk or water! What did you think? It's been a goal of mine to eat healthy. My goal is not to lose weight, but to just be healthy. Be healthy enough to be able rock climb again, play sports, run, and generally get sweaty and feel good about it! I've started drinking LOTS of water and trying to eat more fruits and veggies. This was my breakfast this morning (delish!) and it was a large class of ice water, whole grain bread (still adjusting to that....uck), salted tomatoes, muenster cheese, lettuce, turkey, mayo and some strawberries! Very filling and healthy - even though I kind of had to choke it down lol, I feel great!
We all have them - people we look up to, people we count on to rescue us when we need them. Champions, we all have one and each of us are someone else's Champion. Think about a time when you were a Champion. Think about how it felt and don't forget to smile as you remember.
For myself, I remember the night I was a champion as clearly as if it were just recently. I was young, 15 I think, and I was going to be in my first horse-back riding show. I was showing Fidget, a crazy tennesse-walker gelding. Since this was my first show I had no idea what to expect, but it turned out being the best night of my life thus far. Fidget was, well, fidgety - we'll say "full of energy" - and my heart was going just about as fast as his. We rode around the show grounds, passing people and trotting down walkways. I ride behind the bleachers and spotted my family and my boyfriend (at the time's) family. I hollered up and we waved at each other and I felt like such a cowgirl and I was so proud. I rode around a bit more, strutting my stuff. Eventually it was my turn to go in the ring, and once i entered I heard my name being cheered by my team mates on the sidelines - they were cheering my name, it was so exciting! The judge called out his commands then the round ended. We lined up, I turned to the girl next to me and said, "Good luck" and the judge called out the winners. I wasn't among them, but I still felt like a champion! <3 |
