One of the best ways to get in touch with your loving side is to share it. Part of learning to love yourself is to learn to love others as well. Your next assignment is to express the love you have for those close to you. You can do this so many ways....bake cookies for your grandmother, write something sweet on your best friends facebook wall, send an eCard to your dad at work, take your mom out to shop for fresh flowers, drive your little brother to the skate park...even show your pets some love by taking your dog to the dog park or giving your cat some fresh tuna! The possibilities are endless and it's a tribute to your creativity on how you go about sharing love :)

Bonus Challenge: Share love with strangers. Your goal is to smile at, or give a genuine compliment to a stranger...or two!

Now go, love fearies, and dote on those you love!

Welcome Cadets! By now you've had a chance to procure all the items you're going to need for this journey: your self love bible, a camera and, most importantly, yourself!

The first assignment we're getting today is to start building our base. Foundations are the most important part of anything you do, without a strong base your top will topple! (teehee, see what I did there?)

So lets start our base, what is our foundation? Why do we want to love ourselves? What benefits will come from it? What has driven us to take this challenge? Your first assignment is to write yourself an affirmation letter detailing all the reasons why you want to learn to love yourself.

My letter goes something like this,

Dear Amberly:

You fuckin' rock girlfriend! You are hilarious, kind and have so many facets to your personality. I applaud you for taking the time and effort to make a 30 day self love challenge and for bringing it to others! You are really committed to this radical love aren't you? That's good, fuel the fire! When things get hard and it's so easy just to slip back into old habits of blaming yourself, remember to put yourself first. Think about what would make you truly happy, what you need to cut out or add into your life to make that happen. Remember how sad you used to be, how miserable life was when you were depending on others to make you happy - and how life is now, now that you've learned not to wait on others, but to seize the moment and now that you're comfortable doing things alone. This is a great achievement! But you gotta stick with it! In the end, you only have yourself to answer to. And also remember, that a big part of loving yourself is sharing that love with others. <3

It isn't selfish to always put yourself first. Your happiness, comfort and joy are all things that you deserve the most of, and you can make it for yourself!

Welcome one and all!!

Today is August 1st! This is ushering in a new month, and hopefully, a month filled with plenty of self love! I present to you,  30 Days of Self Love!

I want to invite and challenge each of you to spend the next 30 days following this blog and doing each of the activities listed, we all know that saying "it takes 30 days to form a habit" and loving yourself is an excellent habit to have!

What you will need:
  • A self love bible. If you'd like to see an example of my self love bible please click here. I would recommend buying a bible with a hardcover, removable pages, pages that are thick and will be able to stand up to having pictures glued on. Now, your bible doesn't have to be anything even remotely like mine! If you're super techy and would like to keep an all virtual bible you can do that, or if you want it to be big and oversized do that as well! Since this whole project is a reflection of you, get whatever you want.
  • A camera. Photographs are the best way of remembering things, we all say oh how could I forget this, but over time things fade. Most of these projects suggest you take pictures to put into your bible, and plus, I'd love for you to upload and share them with me!
  • Good friends! Good friends always make things better, challenge a few of your friends to do this with you so you can compare activities and work on things together! What fun it could be! :) If you don't have anyone to challenge, remember, myself and the other readers are doing this as well - we're not alone.

I am excited that you are here to journey with me, spend the day collecting your items and tomorrow we shall get started!!
